Priority Covid-19 Information (19th March)



  1. Local update: 57,183 residents have now been vaccinated with their first dose in Tower Hamlets.
  1. Tower Hamlets COVID 19 vaccination scheme for PAs: Tower Hamlets have decided that the recipients of direct payments can get vaccinated at the same time as their PAs. Real has been working closely with the Council to set up a vaccination booking system. A fact sheet on COVID-19 vaccinations and testing for direct payments recipients and their PAs can be found on Real’s website.
  1. Schools, nurseries and colleges testing: You can now order free coronavirus (COVID-19) rapid lateral flow test kits to your home In England. You can use this service for your household, childcare bubble or support bubble if at least one member is: a school, nursery or college pupil, or works in a school, nursery or college (this includes temporary workers or volunteers). Order your home test kits here.
  1. Somali vaccine webinar: Tower Hamlets Council have organised a virtual live Q&A session on Monday 22 March at 7pm for our Somali residents to find out more about the Covid-19 vaccine and ask a panel of health experts and local community leaders questions about the vaccination programme. Register for the event here.
  1. Ramadan and Covid-19 vaccine: To reassure the Muslim community, the British Islamic Medical Association has reviewed the analysis of Islamic scholars and confirmed that having the vaccine does not invalidate the fast. Tower Hamlets Council has issued some guidance on taking the Covid-19 vaccine during Ramadan.
