Priority Covid-19 Information (5th May)

  1. Surge testing in the Borough: Over the weekend there were a small number of confirmed cases of the South African and Brazilian variants in Tower Hamlets. The Council have been really quick to respond and are carrying out surge testing in the Borough.
    • These variants have been identified in the area around E1 4 and E1 3 and some of E1 0, E1 1, E1 2, E1 5, E14 7, E2 0, E2 6, E3 4.
    • The Council are advising that everyone over the age of 11 in these areas should be tested.
    • You can check your postcode here and find out if you are being asked to get a test.

  1. Local update in Tower Hamlets:
    • 96,392 residents have now been vaccinated with their first dose
    • 27,824 residents ​have had their second dose administered.
  1. Voting safely on 6th May: Local election are going ahead on the 6th May and you can still vote in person at a polling station. Because of Covid-19, there will be safety measures in place at polling stations to help you vote safely. Check out the latest government guidelines here.

Vaccine Information in community languages: NHS doctors, nurses and other frontline staff have come forward to help reassure communities that Covid-19 vaccines are safe, effective and have been independently tested to the highest standards. NHS staff have recorded messages in some of the most commonly spoken languages.
