Sources of community-based help

Lots of people are offering to help out in these difficult times. There are a number of groups being set up, called “Mutual aid groups” where members of the public offer to help one another. These can be a godsend. But you should also make sure that you feel safe and if anyone tries to get access to where you live, without your permission, you should say no. If anyone goes shopping for you, you should get them to leave things on your doorstep rather than let them into your home. Just use common sense.

Tower Hamlets Council have set up a page on where to find information on different community support groups.

A community website called Love Wapping has set up a list of mutual aid groups and other places where you can get support.

But be careful, not everyone has good intentions. This new story shows burglars posing as NHS workers carrying out coronavirus testing. So don’t accept any unexpected help unless you are sure
